Bonadio Proves to be a Trusted Advisor for Growing Small Businesses

Client Spotlight: Vital Signs

Vital Signs began working with The Bonadio Group (TBG) as a Small Business Advisory client in 2018. Since the beginning of this partnership, TBG’s support of Vital Signs has expanded from tax services and bookkeeping to business advisory services, COVID funding assistance, and more, cementing TBG as a trusted advisor for the company.

Located in Webster, NY, Vital Signs was founded by Josh Palmer in 2005. The shop specializes in the creation of exterior and interior signs with a team of project management, production, fabrication and installation staff, as well as a full team of graphic designers. From logo development, design, and layout, to engineering and elevation drawings, Vital Signs’ focus is to ensure the audience is watching. By defining a brand’s graphic vision, they craft innovative visual stories that attract the target audience and create long term success. Some of Vital Signs’ clients include The University of Rochester, Spectrum, Kodak, and RIT.

By 2018, Vital Signs was growing rapidly, and Josh eventually incorporated a longtime employee, Amy Catalano, as an owner. As their customer base and workload increased, so did the need for a larger facility, which also meant a need for funding and financial assistance.

That year, Vital Signs was introduced to TBG through a referral. As they began working with banks to fund a building expansion project, they came to TBG for help putting together an income projection plan. TBG’s Small Business Advisory Group helped craft a five-year projection, which the bank approved, and Vital Signs was on their way to securing a new mortgage.

Since then, Vital Signs has worked with TBG for everything from personal and business taxes, consulting, bookkeeping, and more. Furthermore, during the pandemic, TBG provided critical guidance on COVID-related relief funding and forgiveness.

Jason Acker, a Partner in the firm’s Small Business Advisory Group, manages the relationship with Vital Signs. Jason, who specializes in financial statement review, compilation and preparation services, business and individual tax compliance, mergers and acquisitions, and other consulting and client service projects, quickly became a trusted advisor to Vital Signs as their relationship grew.

Although we are a small business, we were, and have always been, treated as a top tier client,” said Palmer. “Their team takes care of us at tax time and throughout the year. We are so thankful for this trusting and invaluable relationship.”

In looking at his partnership with Vital Signs over the years, Jason shared, “There is nothing more rewarding than being able to grow a client relationship over time and help them in different ways as their business grows.”
