Holidays Your Way: A Flexible & Inclusive Approach to Time Off

May 24th, 2024

At The Bonadio Group, we understand that life can be unpredictable, and traditional holiday schedules may not always align with our People’s personal needs or cultural celebrations. That’s why we’re proud to offer a Flexible Observance Day Policy to allow our team members to celebrate their time off in a way that works best for them.

We offer all eligible employees two Flexible Observance Days per year, in addition to firmwide closure dates and our Unlimited PTO Policy. These days can be taken on any holiday or observance that holds meaning for each individual employee, including, MLK Jr. Day, Good Friday, Juneteenth, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Rosh Hashanah, or others.

Embracing Diversity and Inclusion

We aim to represent our commitment to diversity and inclusion in our benefits and policies. We recognize that our employees come from diverse backgrounds and celebrate a variety of holidays. Our Flexible Observance Day Policy ensures that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate their holidays, whether it’s a cultural, personal, or religious celebration.

“For the past two years, I have used my Flexible Observance Days on Good Friday and Easter Monday, also known as Dyngus Day in Buffalo!” shared Susan Fumerelle, Marketing Automation Specialist.

“Yes, we have an unlimited PTO policy already, but these additional days off truly encourage People to celebrate a cultural holiday of their choosing and spend more time with family and friends. My boyfriend is in the school system, so these additional days have also given us the opportunity to match up our time off,” she added.

A Commitment to Work-Life Balance

Work-life balance is a key priority for our firm, and our Flexible Observance Day Policy is designed to support our employees in achieving that balance. Whether it’s taking a day off to recharge after a busy season or spending additional time with family during the holidays, our policy allows our team members to prioritize their well-being and personal commitments.

Joshua Keal, Manager of Application and Support, spent one of his flexible observance days on the Monday after Mother’s Day to refinish his patio and garden as a Mother’s Day gift for his wife. “I think the Flexible Observance Policy is great because you get to pick what days are important to you. Since I have young kids, I like to spend mine around Mother’s Day so I can do something special for my wife,” added Josh.

While we believe that our Flexible Observance Day Policy is essential for fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment, we acknowledge that this is just one step in an ongoing effort, and we are dedicated to finding additional ways of supporting and valuing our team members’ individualism and cultural diversity.
