Summertime Shutdown: A TBG Tradition

July 17th, 2025

The summer season at TBG is all about connection, community, and recharging. Each year, we take a firmwide pause during the week coinciding with the Independence Day holiday to promote work-life harmony and support the well-being of our People. Whether our People choose to travel to new destinations, spend quality time with loved ones, or simply unwind, this time off is theirs to use however they choose. When we return to the office the following Monday, the energy is unmistakable, as conversations buzz with stories, laughter, and renewed spirit.

Here's How Our Team Relaxed & Refreshed Throughout This Year’s Firmwide Closure

Ashley Kenyon1

“This year, my family and I went back to my favorite place: Maine! We caught the awesome fireworks display in Bar Harbor on the Fourth, my son and I took on a new mini golf place close to camp, and we hiked Beech Mountain, Cadillac Mountain, and my favorite, Acadia Mountain. This annual firmwide shutdown allows us to walk away from the phones and computers to truly take a break. Thankful for this week with the family!”
–Ashley Kenyon, Efficiency Center Specialist

“I spent the Fourth of July week at my grandfather’s house in Missouri with my sister and my son. It had been five years since we last saw my grandfather in person, so the trip was extra special. We also had the chance to visit the St. Louis Zoo, where we watched my seven-year-old make friends with everyone he met and stood feet away from some of my favorite animals. Family time and amazing animals made for a wonderful time away, and I feel refreshed and ready to take on my assurance work!”
–Casey, Staff Accountant

Firmwide Closure1

“I enjoyed spending my week out of office relaxing in the Thousand Islands with my loved ones.”
–Bruce Zicari, CEO and Managing Partner

“My family and I were able to pack in the activities. We attended a local Fourth of July parade, camped at Lackawanna State Park, visited George Eastman Museum, hiked at Letchworth State Park, enjoyed a boat ride and lunch on Seneca Lake, and attended a Rochester Redwings game. It was a fantastic week full of memorable moments and quality family time.”
–Justin Desalvo, Manager

Rachel Pasternak1

“I used the time to slow down and recharge in so many ways. I slept in (a true luxury and favorite activity!), got a jumpstart on our firmwide wellness challenge with daily walks, visited the beautiful Niagara Falls, took in an outdoor concert with a high school buddy featuring one of my favorite local bands, and, most importantly, stepped away from the computer and work phone to breathe and enjoy time with family and friends. Heading into the second half of 2025 feeling focused and ready to make it count.”
–Rachel Pasternak, University Recruiting Manager

Christina Church

“My husband and I spent most of our time on the water in our boat soaking up the sun!”
–Christina Church, Receptionist

A little pause can fuel a lot of purpose. With our office doors open once again, our People are energized and ready to serve our clients, communities, and each other, carrying with them the timeless memories and moments that made our firmwide closure so meaningful. We’re excited to keep the momentum going with our continued summer initiatives like Purpose Day, regional Culture Committee events, and summer Half Day Fridays.
