After hitting record highs in 2021, strategic and financial buyers continue to heavily pursue middle-market M&A transactions across numerous industries in the United States. There are still vast amounts of “dry powder” held by private equity funds, and large amounts of cash held by corporate buyers coming out of the pandemic. The aging population of middle-market business owners also continues to drive the supply of middle-market businesses available for sale, and fierce competition for those businesses continues to result in a frothy marketplace.
