John has been in the public accounting industry since 1987. He started his own business in 1994 as a sole practitioner and merged into Grimaldi & Associates in 1995. He performs audits and advisory services for manufacturing, distribution, wholesalers/retailers, food processors, etc. He also formerly performed IFRS audits and consulting for several international clients for over 20 years. John is also the lead of the Syracuse office fraud practice and is a Certified Fraud Examiner. He is a former President of the Upstate New York Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a Member, since 2003, of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). John is also a long-time member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

John was a member of the Chadwick Residence BOD, a transitional living and life organization for homeless women and children from 2003 to 2021. He served two three-year terms as Board President for that Organization. He received endless satisfaction from helping the Organization fulfill its mission and helping hundreds of homeless women and children in need during his time on the BOD, as well as increasing the number of living spaces for the women and children the Organization serves.

John and his wife are empty-nesters, with their children living all over the country. He is looking forward to the next phase of life as a grandparent to his six grandchildren (so far).
